Chinese New
Year and Christmas hamper
designs for AmBank Group. In
addition to generating the 3D
packaging concept visuals, I
also worked on the overall
illustration theme of the
hampers. The Chinese New Year
design is meant to look like
gold bars containing sweet
Cadbury chocolates while pine
wood was proposed as a material
for constructing the limited
edition Christmas Goodies box. |

As a child, I
used to love cycling.
Practically every evening, I
would be riding my BMX around
the neighborhood, racing with
the other kids. Therefore, its
only appropriate that one day, I
will design a bike. The Fusion
Bike above was designed in part
to solve the problem with the
lack of loading gear on most
commuter bikes and to make the
cycling itself fun - even if you
had to carry a lot of stuff with
you. Research on commuter
cycling habits like how they
carry their gear along
while cycling was done to fully
understand carriage problems
faced with limited loading gear.
The Fusion Bike comes with
fashionable detachable bags that
you could use with or without
the bike. |

A friend
of mine is starting up an events
agency - SpinEdge Events. I was asked
to develop their logo identity
which can then be applied to
their future website,
letterheads, and other business
paraphernalia. The founders are
extremely talented musicians and
their new company is an
appropriate way of complementing
their trade. Look them up if you
need a gig or a launch or
anything event related. Spinedge.com ? coming soon. |

All
right. I confess. I am nuts over
giant oversized mechanical
robots (yep, that's what it
says.) I have nursed a sick
hobby of sketching giant
oversized mechanical robots for
as long as I can remember. And
these sketches continue to stay
hidden from the public eye for
fear of embarrassing myself.
Well fear no more, cause the
Transformers craze is here and I
can come out of hiding.
Presenting SKETCH RETRO ROBOT
ATTACK SERIES 2007 COMPILATION.
I will dig out all my old giant
oversized mechanical robot
sketches and published them
right here on Thelaunchroom. I
am looking at creating a
calendar of sketches or
something. Yup. I am nuts. |

Conceptual event visuals for the
launch of the new Ultra II
Edition hand phone by Samsung Mobile. We
proposed that the event be held
at the hip and trendy Asian Heritage Row right in
downtown Kuala Lumpur. I had to
model the whole street scene ,
added in the light effects all
in one night. The aim was
to stake Samsung's claim on the
street for just one night. A
giant stage that reaches 16'
high provides the perfect
imposing backdrop across the
street from The Loft
where the event activities will
take place. |

SenQ is the largest
electrical appliances chain
store in Malaysia. This shop is
the first specialty store under
the SenQ group that is focused
mainly on LCD TVs and digital
imaging gadgets - hence the
name, Slim TV. |

I designed
this hair dryer as part of a
reverse engineering project . An
existing hair dryer was taken
apart and its internal
components refitted into a newly
designed casing ensuring all
parts and components are
functioning. I even went further
by proposing a packaging box for
my hair dryer design which I
fondly referred to as the
Roadrunner because of the hair
dryer's handle that resembles a
roadrunner. |

2003 is like
4 years ago. But looking back in
time is always a good way of
reminding ourselves of the
things that we have done, the
projects that we have worked on,
how we designed, drew,
conceptualized... you get the
idea. Yep, that's Thelaunchroom
way back then. I think it was
version 1.0 when it was called a
"journal." Way before
blogs became the norm. Together
with a few other friends (one of
whom was based in Singapore), we
contributed daily wisdoms to the
site - our humble diary on life
in college since we were all
students in those days. CLASH OF
THE TITANS - Impulse 2003 was a
project that we initiated to get
ourselves semester break
internship jobs. We used the
site as a job hunt tool - with a
showcase of our works online. It
made our applications so much
more easier. |

I designed
this wooden pull toy for 3 to 5
year old kids. The idea is
simple - kids are attracted to
anything that has wheels. By
putting an alphabet game on
wheels, kids will have more fun
with the ABCs. In an era when
most designs are presented via
3D renderings, it is definitely
refreshing to present my design
with a real working model of the
real thing. In this case, I
constructed the toy where each
individual alphabet can be
rearranged to create words And
the wheels move too! All
done without a single computer
imagery. Pure model making beats
a 3D rendering anytime. Only
when you have the time of
course. |
